Dorothy M Yoon
Dorothy was born in Busan, Korea. She obtained her BA Sculpture and MA Fine Art at Ewha Woman’s University, Seoul, Korea. In 2007, she gained her MA Fine Art at the Goldsmith’s College, University of London, UK.
International exhibitions include Human Faces, National Museum of Singapore 2010; Animamix Biennale Shanghai MoCA and Today Art Museum, Beijing, China; 8 of Heroines solo show, Salon Gallery, London 2009; 13 Blondes solo show, Gallery S, Seoul, Korea, 2008 and Coup de Pouce, Galerie Suty, France, 2007.
The selected portrait photographic works deal with issues of personal, public and national identity. Dorothy evokes the search of identity in a culture much influenced by the idealization of the Western world with highly stylized and staged images.
