Emiko Aida
Emiko was born in Tokyo. She is a member of the Royal Society of Painters & Printers and holds a MA Printmaking at the Royal College of Art, London and a MA Fine Art at the Tokyo University of Fine Art & Music, Japan.
Her works are often engaged on Haiku, the unique Japanese 17 syllable poetic verse, with imagery themes of nature, raindrops, storms and urban landscapes. Public and private collections include the New York Public Library.
International exhibitions include the 2007 Florence Biennale, Italy; Laudan Kurstverein, West Germany, 2007; Oxo Gallery, London & Obsidian Gallery, Oxford, 2007 and the
Royal Academy of Arts – Summer Exhibition, 2005.
Awards include the Coley & Tiley Prize RBSA, Birmingham, 1997 & 98; The Nordstern Award at the Royal Academy of Arts, 1997; L’Escargot Restaurant Award at the Royal College of Art. London 1989 and the Japan University Printmaking Purchase Prize, Tokyo 1982 & 83.
